Prayer of Confession: Transformation of Desires

Almighty and merciful God,
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
We confess that our hearts have been ensnared by selfish desires,
Born of rivalry and the shadows of violence that dwell within us.
We have sought our own gain at the expense of others,
Allowed envy to breed contention,
And let anger ignite the flames of harm.
In our weakness, we have turned from Your way of peace.
Forgive us, O Lord, and cleanse us from these chains.
Through the self-offering of Jesus, who laid down His life for us,
Transform our wills to mirror His self-giving love.
Amen.
