Fr. Joash Thomas

Fr. Joash Thomas is an international speaker, author, and priest who draws from his St. Thomas Indian Christian roots and a Jesus-centred, Empire-informed understanding of Scripture. He calls Christians to reimagine a faith that unites rather than divides, stands with neighbours on the margins, and embraces the contemplative, courageous and nonviolent way of Jesus.

Born and raised in Mumbai, Joash worked as a U.S. political consultant and lobbyist before serving in advocacy and fundraising leadership roles with International Justice Mission US & Canada for a decade, prior to entering the priesthood. He holds a master’s degree in Political Management from The George Washington University and two master’s degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary in Christian Leadership and Systematic Theology. He is an ordained priest in the Diocese of St. Anthony and the author of The Justice of Jesus.

Joash currently serves on the leadership team at St. Stephen’s University as Director of Fundraising & Advancement and Instructor in Public Theology, Peace & Justice. He also writes on Substack Masala Chai Theology .
